The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomes closes the distance and clinches.

Gomes breaks from the clinch.

Inman dives in and scores a takedown into Gomes's guard.

Gomes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Inman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gomes throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Gomes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gomes is looking for a kimura but Inman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gomes to get the leverage.
Gomes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Inman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Gomes throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Inman to regain full guard.
Inman is trying to control the position but Gomes postures up.

Inman working for a triangle but Gomes defends it easily.
Gomes throws a big elbow that misses.
Gomes throws a strike but Inman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Gomes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Inman manages to get himself to full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hude Gomes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Inman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gomes.
Hude Gomes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomes stalks Inman and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Inman's face. Inman staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Carlos Inman has been cut.
Gomes sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Inman keeps the fight on the outside.
Gomes darts in looking for a takedown but Inman gets double underhooks and turns Gomes into the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gomes shoots in looking for a takedown. Inman tries to sprawl out of it but Gomes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Inman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gomes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gomes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Gomes fakes the leg kick and cracks Inman in the body.

Inman is trying to trip Gomes. He has hold of a leg but Gomes is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Inman persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Gomes has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Inman off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Gomes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Inman defends well and Gomes ends up having to push Inman into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Gomes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Inman's waist but Inman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomes off to one side.

Hude Gomes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Gomes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
