The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodwin shoots for a takedown but Melnyk saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Goodwin clinches up with Melnyk and pushes him back against the cage.

Goodwin jumps into guard, dragging Melnyk to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Melnyk controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Melnyk wants to control from the top but Goodwin keeps moving.
Melnyk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goodwin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Goodwin has Melnyk pulled in close to control his posture.

Lionel Goodwin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Melnyk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Melnyk lands in his opponent's guard.

Melnyk wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Goodwin's closed guard. He's half up but Goodwin has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Goodwin pivots and extends the arm, Melnyk falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Goodwin! Well done that man!
