Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barney Fife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinnie Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barney Fife!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vinnie Paul!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul tries for a takedown but Fife sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Fife fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Paul sprawls well initially but Fife persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paul keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Fife sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Paul defending well though.
Paul tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Paul trying to control but Fife postures up.

Fife is trying to work for a kimura but Paul is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fife moves nicely into side control.

Fife in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Fife looks up at the clock and then as Paul takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Fife smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Paul avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Fife.
Paul is looking for a sweep.

Fife stands up and beckons Paul to his feet.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Paul.
Paul throws a head kick that Fife semi-blocks.


It looks like Barney Fife has been cut.
Fife has his takedown stuffed
and Paul counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Paul fails with the takedown

and Fife counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Paul trying to hold on to Fife's head to control him but Fife postures up.
Paul looks gassed!
Paul is looking to improve his position.
Paul is in trouble now - Fife has advanced to mount!
Fife fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Paul wants to control but Fife is having none of it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Fife pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fife breaks from Paul's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Fife looking to finish Paul with some ground and pound. This is bad for Paul!
Fife has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fife can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Paul is looking to escape.
Fife is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Paul really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fife. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Paul is in a horrible position here. Fife smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Fife is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Fife cracks Paul with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Fife pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Paul is bucking up trying to escape but Fife cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Fife connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Paul shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Fife counters by moving into the clinch.
Paul prevents the takedown attempt.
Paul jumps guard but Fife stands there with Paul around his waist. Paul gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Fife gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Paul regains guard.
Fife controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Fife slips nicely into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fife is looking to advance position but Paul won't allow it.
Nice strikes from Fife there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fife winds up and cracks Paul with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fife not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Fife working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Paul wants to get back to full guard but Fife has mounted him!
Fife has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Paul's face.

Fife lands a big shot there that rocks Paul but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Fife is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Paul is forced to tap! Great finish!
