The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvar misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Whitehead.
Alvar throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Whitehead sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Alvar looks to land a combination but Whitehead avoids it well.
Whitehead really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Alvar goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Whitehead turns into him and now he's in Alvar's guard.

Whitehead tries to escape but Alvar is in control.

Alvar decides to stand up, so the ref orders Whitehead to his feet.
Alvar is breathing heavily.

Alvar shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Whitehead manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Whitehead working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alvar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alvar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alvar stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Whitehead throws up his legs and catches Alvar in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Alvar tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Whitehead! That came out of nowhere!
