The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sotomayor throws an overhand right that lands on Castaneda's shoulder, as Castaneda tries to avoid the shot.
Sotomayor scores with the left hand. Castaneda knows he should have avoided that one.
Castaneda slips under a jab from Sotomayor.
Castaneda closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sotomayor circles away.
Sotomayor fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Castaneda looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Sotomayor throws the left hand but Castaneda avoids the punch easily.
Castaneda steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sotomayor.
Sotomayor feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Castanedas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Sotomayor misses with a straight right.
Sotomayor throws a right and a left that Castaneda avoids nicely.
Castaneda shoots in for a double leg but Sotomayor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sotomayor darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Castaneda on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Sotomayor throws a series of punches but Castaneda moves out of range.

and Castaneda counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Castaneda.
Castaneda has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sotomayor is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Howard Castaneda. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Castaneda breaks the clinch.
Castaneda moves forwards but Sotomayor connects with a nice, crisp jab.
