PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Meng Huo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and john douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). john douglas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Meng Huo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, john douglas!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has douglas pinned against the cage. douglas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Huo.
douglas is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Ground and pound from Huo.

douglas regains full guard. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Huo cracks douglas with a solid left hand.
Huo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

douglas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Huo's guard.
Huo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Huo tries to get out of the position.

douglas blocks the strikes from Huo.
Huo misses with a strike from the bottom.
douglas cracks Huo with a big right hand but Huo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

It looks like Meng Huo has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Huo is looking to reverse the position.
Sloppy strikes there by douglas.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Huo tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Huo throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Huo throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
douglas works to advance to full mount. Huo defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Huo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Huo swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

douglas scoring with strikes but Huo is staying in there.

Meng Huo's cut is getting worse.
Huo flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Meng Huo's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Meng Huo's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
