Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Robby Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Fergers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fergers is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Linkin' Park - Waiting for the End. Dean Fergers told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robby Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dean Fergers!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster fails with an attempt to clinch.
Foster shoots in for a takedown but Fergers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fergers fails with the takedown.
Foster will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fergers closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Foster is letting Fergers control him for a moment.
Foster could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Fergers advances to full mount.
Fergers is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Foster looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Fergers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Foster turns into Fergers and is now in his guard.

Foster wants to stand and escape but instead Fergers has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Foster looking for a guillotine here but Fergers defends easily.

Foster throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Foster working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fergers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fergers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fergers works over Foster with some ground and pound from guard.

Fergers drops back, looking for a kneebar! Foster looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Foster looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Foster!

Foster cracks Fergers with a big right hand but Fergers just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Fergers is holding Foster down, trying to stall.
Foster throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Fergers works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Foster seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Fergers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fergers told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fergers holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Foster wants to get back to his feet.
Foster thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Foster is breathing heavily.

Foster is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fergers is just riding it out for now. Foster eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foster stops Fergers from getting back to his feet.

Fergers is defending against the submission attempts here by Foster.
Fergers is concentrating on defense, preventing Foster from advancing position.

The fighters are battling for position here. Fergers manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Foster wants to stand but Fergers has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Fergers looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Fergers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Foster doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Fergers is tightening it up a little... Foster has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Foster reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Foster taps out! Nice BJJ there by Fergers!
