Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cheech Chong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuji Nagata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cheech Chong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yuji Nagata!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Winston Howard and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nagata looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Chong tries to bum rush Nagata with a series of wild strikes but Nagata uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nagata throws the kick towards the body but Chong avoids it.
A punch combination from Chong misses.
Nagata throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Chong.


It looks like Cheech Chong has been cut.
Nagata misses with a hook.
Chong throws a series of punches but Nagata avoids them all with ease.
Nagata scores with a nice strike.
Chong throws a nice looking combination but Nagata bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nagata lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Chong seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Chong scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nagata lands a high kick to the side of Chong's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Nagata dives into guard, looking to finish.


Chong is rocked!
Nagata working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Nagata loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Nagata working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Chong's head.
Chong has momentary wrist control but Nagata slips an elbow through the middle.

Nagata is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nagata postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nagata with a nice head shot there.

Nagata postures up in Chong's guard and throws a big left but Chong blocks it.
Nagata throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chong works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Chong preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Chong throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nagata lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


Cheech Chong's cut is getting worse.
Nagata throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Chong's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Nagata dives in looking to finish as Chong flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Nagata's strikes! Nagata is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Chong's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Chong was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yuji Nagata!
