Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Michael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Diaz will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chuck Michael!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Michael dives in and scores a takedown into Diaz's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Michael wants to stand and escape but instead Diaz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Michael manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Michael tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Michael throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Diaz is trying desperately to improve position.
Michael avoids the attempt from Diaz to control.
Michael wants to get back to his feet but Diaz is holding on tight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Diaz wants to hold on but Michael pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Michael cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Michael tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Diaz is looking to get to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diaz tries to hold on but Michael postures up.
Diaz sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Michael is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Diaz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Michael.
Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Michael's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Michael's back!

Diaz wants to control but Michael is keeping busy.
Diaz misses with a punch to the head.

Diaz is looking for the choke from the back position but Michael is controlling his hands well.
Diaz keeps control of the position as Michael tries to break free.
Michael is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Diaz.
Michael tries to roll but Diaz sticks to his back.
Diaz punches Michael on the ear.

Diaz is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Diaz gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Diaz gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Diaz apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Diaz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Diaz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Michael looking for a sweep but Diaz has passed into full mount! Oh no!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Michael is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Diaz dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Diaz fails to land the takedown.

Michael feints and as Diaz raises his hands in defense, Michael changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nick Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far.

Diaz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Michael is controlling him.
Diaz has a closed guard, preventing Michael from standing up.

Diaz wants to control but Michael passes easily into half guard.
Diaz has hold of Michael's hands but Michael slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Michael is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Diaz is trying to stand up here but Michael is controlling him well.
Michael wants to stand up but Diaz has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Diaz trying to control from the bottom.
Diaz tries to kick Michael off but Michael keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Diaz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Diaz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Michael.
Diaz is looking for a sweep. Michael is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Diaz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Michael is working away from the top position though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chuck Michael will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Michael pinned against the cage. Michael gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diaz is defended easily by Michael.
Sloppy strikes from Diaz. Those never looked like landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Michael tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Diaz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Michael sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Chuck Michael has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Diaz.
Diaz misses with an uppercut. Michael saw that one coming.

Diaz rushes Michael and presses him up against the cage.
Michael has Diaz pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Diaz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Michael manages to break the clinch.

Diaz wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Michael pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz misses with a takedown

and Michael counters by moving into the clinch.
Diaz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Diaz jumps guard and drags Michael to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Diaz pulls Michael in close to prevent any damage.
Michael wants to stand but Diaz is controlling his posture from full guard.
Michael might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Diaz looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Michael stopping the sweep attempt from Diaz.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Diaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Michael as Diaz shoots in.
Michael throws a series of punches but Diaz avoids them all with ease.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Michael looks for a takedown but Diaz sprawls well.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Michael shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Diaz doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Michael counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Michael is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Diaz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Michael tries to stand and escape but Diaz is controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chuck Michael.
I think Michael has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
