The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newstead throws a head kick but Alexeyev moves out of range.

Alexeyev stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Alexeyev wants it to stay on the feet.

Newstead is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Alexeyev is keeping busy.
The referee is keeping an eye on Alexeyev - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Alexeyev pushes off an throws an elbow but Newstead leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Alexeyev creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Newstead's defenses.
Newstead wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Alexeyev drops Newstead onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Newstead is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
