PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Clow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michaud Korrs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Clow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michaud Korrs!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Korrs tries to score with a low kick but Clow moves his leg out of the way.
Korrs leaves Clow with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Clow rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Korrs moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Clow dives in for a single leg takedown but Korrs sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Clow gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Clow throws a big elbow that misses.
Clow might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Korrs trying to keep a closed guard but Clow is proving a slippery customer.
Clow has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Clow trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Korrs is looking to stand up but Clow isn't so interested in that idea.
Clow throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Korrs works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Korrs is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Clow decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Michaud Korrs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Clow gets tackled into the cage by Korrs. Korrs maintains the clinch.
Clow stalling.
Clow fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Clow. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Clow breaks from the clinch.
Korrs looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Clow has closed the distance and engaged Korrs in a clinch.
Clow drops down looking for an ankle pick but Korrs pulls his leg out and moves away.
A bone on bone clash there as Clow blocks the leg kick.
Korrs throws a sloppy head kick and Clow moves out of range easily.

and Clow counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Clow is looking to take a break and control but Korrs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Clow postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
An elbow from Clow crashes against the mat.
Clow staying calm.
You can see the frustration on Korrs's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Clow remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Clow stands up and beckons Korrs to his feet.
Korrs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Clow manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Clow swats away the attempt to clinch by Korrs.
Korrs throws a sloppy head kick

and Clow counters by clinching up.
Clow is looking to take this one to the mat.
Korrs has Clow pressed against the cage, preventing Clow from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Korrs looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Clow is trying to pull guard but Korrs has him pressed against the cage.

Clow gets control of Korrs's arms and successfully pulls guard. Clow will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Clow looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Clow bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Korrs's guard.
Korrs wants to stand up but Clow is controlling him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Clow is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Korrs is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

No joy there for Korrs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Korrs gets caught napping as Clow dives in and scores a takedown. Korrs manages to retain guard.

Korrs tries to land a sweep but no joy.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clow accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Korrs wants to get back to his feet but Clow passes into half guard.
Clow stops Korrs from getting back to his feet.
Clow not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Clow is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Clow decides to stand and escape the position.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Clow is defended easily by Korrs.

Clow closes the distance and clinches.
Korrs tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Clow avoids it.
Clow is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Korrs gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Clow drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Korrs gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Chris Clow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Korrs fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Clow is out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris Clow.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Clow, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
