Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sun Hui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaru Shimabukuro!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hui is defended easily by Shimabukuro.

Hui is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shimabukuro is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shimabukuro has escaped and now he's on top!
Hui bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shimabukuro's guard.
Hui drops back looking for a leg! Shimabukuro is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shimabukuro manages to kick Hui off! Hui jumps back into Shimabukuro's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hui drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hui jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Shimabukuro seems to have recovered his senses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shimabukuro can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hui postures up in Shimabukuro's guard and throws a big left but Shimabukuro blocks it.
Shimabukuro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hui. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hui drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shimabukuro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hui has Shimabukuro in his guard.
Shimabukuro wanted to stand there but Hui had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hui tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hui has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hui manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shimabukuro manages to get himself to full guard.

Hui is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shimabukuro doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hui.
