Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Millar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan Robles!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robles tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Millar swivels and escapes.
Millar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Robles avoids a kick to the body.
Millar shoots in for a takedown but Robles shows good takedown defense.
Millar throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Robles swats away the attempt to clinch by Millar.
Millar doesn't manage to clinch there - Robles circles away.
Millar looks for a takedown but Robles sprawls well.
Millar takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Robles.
Robles misses with a head kick.
Robles stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Robles wants it to stay on the feet.

Millar is breathing heavily.

Millar is looking to clinch but Robles is avoiding it.
Millar closes the distance and clinches up with Robles, looking for a takedown. Millar pushes Robles against the cage but Robles circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Millar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Robles as he jumps to the side.

and Robles counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Robles lands a nice shot that snaps Millar's head back.

Robles is trying hard to land a takedown here. Millar sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Robles tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Millar swivels and escapes.
Robles lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Millar circles away quickly and effectively.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Robles enables Millar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Robles manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Robles holds on and takes a little breather.
Millar wants to get up but he can't break Robles's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Millar tries to free his leg and advance position but Robles is retaining full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Millar looking to sit in guard and control but Robles gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Millar trying to keep a closed guard but Robles is proving a slippery customer.
Robles lands a couple of elbows.
Millar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Millar wants to improve his position but Robles is controlling well.

Millar looks like he's trying to stand up.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Robles working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Robles perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Robles passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Millar!

Robles looking to control but Millar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Millar is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Millar will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Robles shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Millar sprawls well. Millar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Robles gets slowly back to his feet.

Robles looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Robles seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Millar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Millar wants to control but Robles is keeping busy.
Millar is trying to stand.
Robles tries to pass to full mount but Millar defends it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Millar is looking to escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Millar fails in his attempt to clinch.
Robles throws a series of punches but Millar avoids them all with ease.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Robles is defended easily by Millar.
Millar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Millar throws a nice looking combination but Robles bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Robles shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Robles keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Millar's head.

Millar takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Millar trying to control but Robles flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Millar is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Robles.
Robles keeps control of the position as Millar tries to break free.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Millar controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Juan Robles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Millar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Millar is looking for a triangle but Robles pushes his legs off easily.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Juan Robles has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Robles throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Millar's waist but Millar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robles off to one side.
Robles tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Millar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Millar throws a head kick but Robles moves out of range.
A slapping leg kick lands for Robles.

Robles closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Millar quickly recovers to half guard.

Robles escapes and gets back to his feet.

Millar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Millar is looking to take a break and control but Robles is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Millar is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Robles looks calm but he's in trouble here. Millar gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Robles is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Millar lets go of the hold and Robles can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Michael Millar!
An out of breath Michael Millar thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
