PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Musta Surma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Morris might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Clique . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Musta Surma was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leroy Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Musta Surma!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morris dodges the punch combination from Surma.
The fight stays on the outside here - Surma looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nice uppercut there from Morris.
Surma throws a combination. Morris tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Leroy Morris has been cut.
Surma swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Surma is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Morris.
Surma throws a good cross that connects.
Morris tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Surma enables Morris to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Surma manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Morris slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Surma working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Morris tries to roll over but Surma keeps him under control.

Morris is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Morris wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Surma is now in half guard.

Morris isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Surma stacks Morris on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Surma!

Surma tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Morris cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Morris ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Surma moves away.
Morris throws a looping overhand right but Surma ducks down to avoid it.
No joy there for Surma, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Morris seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Surma feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Morriss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Surma throws a knee to the head but misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Morris gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Morris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Surma keeps working.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Surma wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Morris is rocked!
Surma avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Oh Morris is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Surma darts in and clinches Morris up against the cage.
Surma creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Morris with a big uppercut! Morris tries to clinch up but Surma pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Morris to the mat! Morris covers up and Surma unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Musta Surma!
After the fight, Musta Surma was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
