PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randomly Named Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Mangold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mangold has chosen Dead Prez as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Danny Mangold was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Randomly Named Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Danny Mangold!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter slaps away a takedown attempt from Mangold, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mangold darts in looking for a takedown but Fighter gets double underhooks and turns Mangold into the cage.

Mangold works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Mangold stopping the sweep attempt from Fighter.
Fighter is controlling Mangold's posture.
Fighter working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mangold.
Mangold is looking to work some ground and pound but Fighter has wrist control.
Mangold lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Fighter pulls Mangold in to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mangold postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mangold wants to control from the top but Fighter keeps moving.

Fighter wants to stand and escape but Mangold is having none of it.
Fighter seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Fighter pulls Mangold in close to his closed guard and prevents Mangold from doing any damage or advancing position.
Fighter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mangold is one step ahead there.

Fighter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fighter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fighter wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mangold is now in half guard.
Mangold lands strikes from half guard.
Mangold is looking to advance position but Fighter won't allow it.
Mangold lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Fighter makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fighter.
Mangold in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mangold chips away with some ground and pound.
Fighter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mangold works over Fighter with some ground and pound from guard.
Mangold working some strikes from top position.
Mangold postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mangold throws a big elbow that misses.
Fighter wants to sweep but no luck.
Fighter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mangold throwing strikes but missing.
Fighter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mangold is one step ahead there.

Mangold working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mangold trying to control but Fighter is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mangold missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mangold with a nice head shot there.
Mangold pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fighter is keeping the position for now.
Mangold is looking to work some ground and pound but Fighter has wrist control.
Fighter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Fighter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mangold manages to get himself to full guard.


Mangold is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mangold is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Fighter rolls with it to try and escape but Mangold cranks on the arm and Fighter is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Danny Mangold!
Danny Mangold opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
