The crowd seem to be enjoying Tanner's choice of entrance music: Hooty Tooty. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones checks the leg kick nicely there.
Tanner throws a lazy uppercut

and Jones counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jones.
Jones is in close to Tanner's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones wants to control from the top but Tanner keeps moving.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Tanner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.

Tanner has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jones is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tanner.
Tanner is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
