PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adel Klemen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shane Callahan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adel Klemen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shane Callahan!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Klemen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Callahan, pushing him back against the cage.
Klemen works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Klemen connects with a knee to the head.
A short left from Klemen.
Callahan swings wildly with an uppercut but Klemen uses good head movement to avoid it.
Klemen lands a good knee to the midsection. Callahan won't want to take too many of those.
Callahan looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Callahan working aggressively here.
Callahan wants to get back to striking at distance but Klemen won't allow it.
Klemen keeps control of Callahan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Callahan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Klemen scores a nice knee to the body.
Klemen throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Callahan avoids the elbow strike from Klemen, against the cage.
Klemen pushes off an throws an elbow but Callahan leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Still in the clinch, Klemen scores with a nice short uppercut.
Callahan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
A nice left hand lands by Klemen.
Klemen creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Callahan is trying to force a seperation but Klemen has the dominant position.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Klemen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Klemen lands a hook that snaps the head of Callahan backwards.
Klemen utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
With the fighters up against the cage, Klemen throws an elbow but misses.
Callahan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Klemen landing knees to the body.
Callahan avoids a wild elbow strike from Klemen.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Klemen obliges.
Klemen has Callahan pressed against the cage, preventing Callahan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Klemen throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Klemen throws an elbow that misses.
Callahan is trying to drag Klemen to the mat but Klemen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Klemen lands a right hand that snaps the head of Callahan backwards.
Callahan's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Klemen lands a nice knee to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Klemen lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.


Callahan is rocked!
Klemen digs a right hand into Callahan's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Callahan's gas tank.
Callahan is still on wobbly legs! Can Klemen finish him?
Klemen working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Klemen looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Klemen creates some distance and fires off a vicious elbow that drops Callahan! He pounces and finishes the fight with more strikes! Nice KO for Klemen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Adel Klemen!
After the fight, Adel Klemen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
