Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Thompson misses.

Sosa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Thompson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sosa is in Thompson's guard.

Sosa thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sosa decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Thompson, up you get!
Thompson misses with a wild body shot.
Thompson just misses with a punch to the body.
Sosa dives in for a single leg takedown but Thompson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Sosa tries to pull guard but Thompson holds him up against the cage and eventually Sosa drops back down to his feet.
Sosa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thompson walks away with a smile on his face. Sosa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Horace Sosa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Thompson misses with a series of wild punches.

and Sosa counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sosa.

Sosa is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Thompson to keep the fight standing.
Thompson is trying to break the clinch but Sosa is controlling him.
Sosa fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sosa is trying to pull guard but Thompson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Thompson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Thompson scores with a punch to the head.
Thompson clobbers Sosa with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Sosa dives in for a single leg takedown but Thompson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Thompson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sosa dodges the punch combination from Thompson.
Thompson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sosa circles away quickly and effectively.
Sosa could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Thompson misses with a two punch combination.
Thompson digs a good body shot into Sosa's ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thompson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Sosa is breathing heavily.
Thompson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sosa momentarily.
Thompson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sosa looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Thompson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Thompson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Thompson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Decent striking displayed by Thompson there.

Sosa swats away the attempt to clinch by Thompson.
Billy Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Sosa goes for a double leg but Thompson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Thompson continues to drive forward.
Thompson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Sosa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thompson walks away with a smile on his face. Sosa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nice uppercut lands for Thompson. That snapped Sosa's head back.
Thompson jabs Sosa to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Thompson misses with a double jab.
Sosa takes one to the chin there.
Thompson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thompson listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thompson lands with a nice combination. Sosa backs away looking to recover.
Thompson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Thompson duly obliges.


Sosa is rocked!
Thompson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Sosa gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Thompson gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Billy Thompson!
