PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jaakko Kilpinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Yuber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jaakko Kilpinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Yuber!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kilpinen swats away the attempt to clinch by Yuber.
Yuber misses the body punch
and Kilpinen counters with a head kick. That will keep Yuber thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Kilpinen lands with a nice body punch.
Yuber takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kilpinen lands with a straight right. Yuber didn't see that one coming.
Yuber tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kilpinen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Yuber is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kilpinen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kilpinen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Yuber looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Yuber tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kilpinen defends well and Yuber ends up having to push Kilpinen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Kilpinen swings wildly with an uppercut but Yuber uses good head movement to avoid it.

Yuber tightens his grip and picks Kilpinen up, before dumping him to the ground. Kilpinen manages to land in guard.
Kilpinen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Yuber stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kilpinen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
My spies in Bi-polar Asylum inform me that Yuber has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kilpinen avoids the body shot from Yuber.
Yuber throws a leg kick but Kilpinen sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Yuber connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kilpinen. Kilpinen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Yuber dives in and grabs Kilpinen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kilpinen pushes down on Yuber's head and hops out.

Kilpinen cracks Yuber with a right hand to the side of the head.
Yuber darts in looking for a takedown but Kilpinen gets double underhooks and turns Yuber into the cage.

Kilpinen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Yuber's efforts to push away.
Yuber wants to break free but Kilpinen has control.

Kilpinen is pressed up against the cage. Yuber has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kilpinen down to the mat. Kilpinen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Kilpinen.
Yuber throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kilpinen's waist but Kilpinen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yuber off to one side.

Kilpinen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yuber can do to turn this around?
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kilpinen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Kilpinen lands with a short shot to the head.
Kilpinen lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Kilpinen tries a knee to the head but Yuber blocks it.
Kilpinen lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Yuber turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Yuber is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kilpinen has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Yuber trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kilpinen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Yuber throwing shots but Kilpinen is blocking nicely.
Ivan Yuber has got the better of the ground game so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Yuber swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kilpinen is now in Yuber's guard. A big mistake from Yuber there, giving up the dominant position!

Yuber shoots in for a takedown but Kilpinen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Kilpinen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kilpinen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Crunch! Yuber slams his shin into Kilpinen's torso.

Ivan Yuber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kilpinen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Yuber's hands.
Yuber shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kilpinen as he jumps to the side.
It looks like Kilpinen has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kilpinen thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Yuber if he has to take too many more of those.

Kilpinen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Yubers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Yuber gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Kilpinen moves into the clinch successfully.

It looks like Ivan Yuber has been cut.
Yuber is trying to escape the position but Kilpinen is controlling the position.
Yuber is still in real trouble! Can Kilpinen finish him?
Yuber is not content to let Kilpinen control the position.
Yuber seems to have recovered his senses.
Kilpinen slows the pace down.
Kilpinen is looking to take a break and control but Yuber is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kilpinen has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Yuber!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kilpinen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
