Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleixo Gene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donatello Battista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aleixo Gene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Donatello Battista!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gene tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Battista misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gene tries to close the distance and clinch up but Battista swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Battista shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Gene counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Gene throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Battista works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Battista is trying to control the position but Gene postures up.
Battista is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gene is controlling him.
Battista is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Battista keeping moving, preventing Gene from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gene throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Battista works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gene might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Battista is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Battista looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Gene has managed to clinch.

Gene gets control of Battista's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gene will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gene can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Battista controls the pace.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Battista wants to stand but Gene is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gene tries to close the distance and clinch but Battista swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gene is looking to clinch.
Battista fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Gene checks it well.

Gene connects with a solid leg kick.

Gene feints and as Battista raises his hands in defense, Gene changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gene is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gene seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Battista for as long as he can get away with.
Battista controls Gene momentarily but Gene frees himself.
Battista manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gene manages to get himself to full guard.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gene holds on and takes a little breather.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gene is on top in guard.

Gene tries to free his leg and advance position but Battista is retaining full guard.
We've been informed that Battista has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Battista is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gene defends well.
Gene trying to control the position from guard on top but Battista is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gene is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Gene tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Battista manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Battista throws a head kick but Gene moves out of range.
Battista dives in for a single leg takedown but Gene sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Gene tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Battista just stands there and leans against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Gene tries for a takedown but Battista manages to get underhooks.

Gene jumps guard.
Battista wants to control from the top but Gene keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gene is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Gene throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Battista has closed the distance and engaged Gene in a clinch.

Battista is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Battista wants to pass to mount but Gene is defending the position.

Battista looking to sit in guard and control but Gene gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Battista seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gene engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Gene looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Gene trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Battista has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gene is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Battista.
Battista is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Donatello Battista will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Gene goes for a double leg but Battista avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Battista continues to drive forward.
Battista pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Gene is trying to force a seperation but Battista has the dominant position.
Battista is working for takedown but Gene is calmly controlling the position for now.
Gene fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Battista keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Gene's efforts to push away.
Gene is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Battista can do to turn this around?

Battista throws a series of strikes that have Gene backpedaling.

Battista shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gene's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
