The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oxen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Oxen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Oxen postures up in Whitney's guard and throws a big left but Whitney blocks it.
Whitney is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Oxen wanted to stand there but Whitney had control of the position.
Oxen stops Whitney from standing up.
Whitney might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oxen wants to stand and escape but instead Whitney has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Whitney is trying to drag Oxen to the mat but Oxen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Whitney seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Whitney has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Oxen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Whitney has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Oxen's face.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Oxen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oxen might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Whitney haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Whitney unloads with some shots from mount but Oxen bucks and avoids them well.
The referee warns Oxen that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Oxen tries to reverse the position but Whitney maintains control.

Oxen is rocked!
Whitney loads up with a big shot that hurts Oxen! He's pulled Whitney in close but Whitney has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Oxen survive? More strikes from Whitney and Oxen is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
