Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Escargesa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Freedman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Freedman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Vincent Escargesa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcus Freedman!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freedman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Escargesa misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Escargesa moves into range and connects with a jab.
Freedman slips under a jab.
Escargesa has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Sanitarium in the buildup to the fight.
Freedman looks for a takedown but Escargesa sprawls well.
Freedman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Escargesa sprawls well. Escargesa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Freedman gets slowly back to his feet.
Vincent Escargesa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Freedman.

Freedman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Escargesa is trying to defend but Freedman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Escargesa is trying to stick to Freedman's back but Freedman is turning into Escargesa. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Escargesa's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Freedman.

Escargesa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Freedman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Freedman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Freedman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Escargesa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Escargesa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Freedman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Escargesa's guard.

My spies in Muay Thai & Kickboxing inform me that Freedman has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Freedman cracks Escargesa with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Escargesa tries to hold on but Freedman postures up.
Escargesa is in a horrible position here. Freedman smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Freedman working for a submission but Escargesa is keeping him at bay.
Escargesa has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Freedman gets his hands free as Escargesa looks to control.

That's time! Escargesa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Freedman drives through with a takedown into Escargesa's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Freedman wants to stand but Escargesa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Freedman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Escargesa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Freedman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Freedman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Freedman is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Escargesa!

Freedman moves into full mount! Escargesa won't be happy about that!
Escargesa wants to control but Freedman is having none of it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Freedman uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Escargesa.
Marcus Freedman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Escargesa lands a right hook to the body.
Freedman takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Freedman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Escargesa's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Freedman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Freedman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Escargesa uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Freedman shoots for a takedown but Escargesa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Freedman has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Escargesa finds it's way round the side to connect with Freedman's head.
Freedman gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Freedman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Escargesa circles away.

Escargesa lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Freedman at a distance.
Freedman dives in for a single leg takedown but Escargesa sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A punch lands to the side of Freedman 's head but he takes it in his stride.


Freedman is rocked!
Escargesa missing with a left hand there. Freedman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Freedman is still on wobbly legs! Can Escargesa finish him?
Escargesa throws an overhand right that has Freedman reeling! Escargesa follows up with more punches and Freedman is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Vincent Escargesa!
After winning the bout, Vincent Escargesa thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
