PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jomhob Kamab (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sambo Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sambo Patrick will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jomhob Kamab!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sambo Patrick!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patrick feints and as Kamab raises his hands in defense, Patrick changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kamab looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Patrick trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Patrick trying to control the position from guard on top but Kamab is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Patrick might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kamab haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sambo Patrick was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Patrick scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Patrick trying to control the action but Kamab is working from the bottom.
Patrick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kamab. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patrick connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kamab some visible discomfort.
Patrick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kamab keeps working.
Kamab is looking to regain half guard here but Patrick keeps moving and retains side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Patrick is trying to get an arm triangle but Kamab is defending well.
Kamab is not content to let Patrick control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Patrick wants to stand but Kamab has his arm trapped.

Patrick decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Patrick shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Patrick showed some decent athleticism there.
Patrick is pressing down on Kamab's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kamab is holding on for now.
Patrick is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sambo Patrick dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Patrick thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kamab if he has to take too many more of those.
Patrick connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Patrick shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Patrick was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Patrick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kamab keeps working.
Patrick staying calm.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kamab might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sambo Patrick has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Patrick throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kamab was covering up waiting for the punch and Patrick finishes the takedown easily into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patrick is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sambo Patrick was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Patrick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Patrick is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kamab has escaped the position, nice work there.

Patrick is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kamab is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Patrick has knee on belly and moves into mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Patrick working the ground and pound effectively.
Patrick trying to control but Kamab is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sambo Patrick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Patrick.
Patrick is looking to take a break and control but Kamab is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Patrick creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patrick tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Patrick working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Patrick tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Patrick has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patrick landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Kamab is looking to reverse the position.
Patrick controlling the position from side mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Patrick works to advance to full mount. Kamab defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Kamab is squirming around, avoiding Patrick's attempts to control the action.
Patrick tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Patrick wants to control the pace but Kamab is squirming around nicely.
Sambo Patrick has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sambo Patrick wasn't active enough on the ground.

Patrick shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sambo Patrick comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Patrick has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
