Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dow Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin St John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). St John has chosen Uilleann Pipes as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Colin St John!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jones avoids the body shot from St John.
St John avoids a punch combination nicely.
St John swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jones walks into a straight right hand from St John.
St John jabs at Jones's body.
St John uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones.
St John fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but St John manages to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Colin St John has been cut.
St John avoids the body shot from Jones.

and St John counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.

St John's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Let's hope that St John has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Dow Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
St John throws an overhand right that lands on Jones's shoulder, as Jones tries to avoid the shot.

and St John counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.
St John not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
St John wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.

St John looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but St John is retaining full guard.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
St John tries to land a sweep but no joy.
St John is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Jones wants to get up but he can't break St John's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
St John is pulling down on Jones's head. It's preventing any offense from Jones, at least for the moment.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

St John is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones.

Colin St John showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
St John tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
St John lands a couple of good shots and Jones has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
