The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nova throws a hook to the side of Palhares's head but Palhares sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Palhares's coach down at Blitzkrieg Fighting Systems: Ground was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Palhares's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Nova tries to keep at a distance but Palhares has taken the fight into the clinch.

Nova knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Palhares on the ground.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Palhares feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nova is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Nova is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Palhares has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Nova is looking to defend but Palhares has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Nova! Palhares pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Nova taps out and this one is all over!
