Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Giuseppe Rich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendall Rison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kendall Rison looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Giuseppe Rich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kendall Rison!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rich tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rison sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rich somewhat.
Kendall Rison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rison looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Rich pulls guard.
Rich seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Rich is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rich has Rison pulled in close to control his posture.
Rich has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Rich.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rich is on top in guard.

Rich chips away with some ground and pound.

Rich has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rich with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rich's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rich with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Rison avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rich throws a big right hand that misses.
Rich is working Rison over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rison can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rison looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rich wants to get up but he can't break Rison's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Rich connects with a couple of short punches.
Rich content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Rison looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Rich stands up and waves to Rison to follow him.

Rison has closed the distance and engaged Rich in a clinch.
Rison misses with a knee strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rich pulls guard effortlessly.
Rich seems keen to control Rison's posture.
Rich continues to stall.
Rich manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rison manages to get himself to full guard.

Rich chips away with some ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rison is looking to sweep but instead, Rich has passed into half guard.
Rich throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Giuseppe Rich dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Rich closes the distance and clinches up with Rison, looking for a takedown. Rich pushes Rison against the cage but Rison circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rison closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rich to the mat! Rich manages to get full guard.
Rich is adopting a defensive guard.
Rich wants to stand and escape but Rison is having none of it.
Rison wants to get up but he can't break Rich's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Rich pulls Rison in close to prevent any damage.

Rich has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Rison should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Rich has tightened it up now! Rison should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
