PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Troy Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuran Dragic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Troy Warner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kuran Dragic!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dragic moves into range and clinches up with Warner.
Warner tries to break the clinch but Dragic is controlling the position.
A right hand to the body from Dragic.

Dragic gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Dragic passes the guard and advances to mount!
Dragic controlling his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Warner is bucking up trying to escape but Dragic cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Dragic is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Warner has given up his back here.
Warner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Warner covering up well under a series of strikes from Dragic.
I would not like to be Warner right now.
Warner really is a fat lump.

Dragic patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Dragic is looking for the choke from the back position but Warner is controlling his hands well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dragic controls the action.
Dragic gets his hands free as Warner looks to control.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Dragic is striking well from the back but Warner escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
Warner is trying to stand.
Warner is in trouble now - Dragic has advanced to mount!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dragic controlling from mount.
Warner blocking the ground and pound.
Warner wants to hold on but Dragic pushes him away.
Warner is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dragic controlling his opponent.
It looks like Dragic might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dragic closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Warner quickly recovers to half guard.

Warner with the active half guard here but Dragic passes nicely into side control.
Warner is trying to control Dragic's posture but Dragic avoids it.
Dragic misses with the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Warner is letting Dragic control him for a moment.
Dragic fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Warner tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Dragic easily slips into full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dragic is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Warner has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Warner!
Warner is fighting to break Dragic's control of his arms but Dragic is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Warner throws an elbow that misses. Dragic uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Warner's guard. Nice move by Dragic!

Dragic advances position into side control!
Dragic in side control, throwing shots but Warner defends.
Dragic slows the pace down.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Warner wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Dragic tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dragic has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Dragic tries to move to mount but Warner blocks the move with his legs.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Warner being controlled for a moment.

Dragic goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Warner rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Dragic's guard! Nice work there by Warner!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Warner distracts Dragic with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kuran Dragic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Dragic feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Warner sprawling to the canvas! Warner rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Dragic finish him?!


It looks like Troy Warner has been cut.
Warner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dragic paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Dragic scores with a takedown into Warner's guard.
Dragic is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Warner working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dragic.
Warner looking to control but Dragic passes into half guard.
Dragic sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Warner defending well though.
Warner wants to control but Dragic is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Warner is in trouble now - Dragic has advanced to mount!

Dragic moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Warner has worked his arm free - good work by Warner!
Dragic looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Warner is avoiding damage well.
Warner tries to improve position but can't.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dragic working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Dragic decides to stand back up.

Dragic closes the distance and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Warner looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Dragic throws an elbow but it misses.

Dragic jumps guard and drags Warner to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Dragic bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Warner's guard.

Dragic throwing strikes from guard but Warner blocks nicely.

Warner looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dragic passes into side control.
Dragic happy to just control the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Dragic stands up.
Dragic has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dragic swats away the attempt to clinch by Warner.

Dragic clinches up against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Troy Warner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kuran Dragic is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Kuran Dragic comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dragic has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
