And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anthony Rodriguez!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goncalves closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rodriguez did well to prevent Goncalves getting side control.

Goncalves seems to be working for a kimura but Rodriguez defends the submission attempt.

Goncalves is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rodriguez has managed to free his arm - good work.

Goncalves is looking for a kimura but Rodriguez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Goncalves to get the leverage.

Goncalves wants to work for an arm triangle but Rodriguez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Goncalves tries to pass to full mount but Rodriguez defends it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rodriguez is looking to stand up but Goncalves isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Goncalves is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Goncalves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rodriguez dives on top into guard.

Rodriguez has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Tenacity Elite - 17 Coaches. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Goncalves looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Goncalves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rodriguez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rodriguez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Rodriguez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Goncalves has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rodriguez has managed to get both his arms back between Goncalves's legs - danger averted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rodriguez is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Goncalves has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Rodriguez is looking to defend but Goncalves has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Rodriguez! Goncalves pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Rodriguez taps out and this one is all over!
