Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Optimus Rimes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Waldemir Warzecha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rimes's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Optimus Rimes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Waldemir Warzecha!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rimes clinches up against the cage.

Warzecha escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Warzecha fails with the takedown
and Rimes counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Rimes tries to work over Warzecha's front leg with a kick but Warzecha checks it.
Rimes throws a shot to the body.
Warzecha is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rimes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Warzecha tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rimes swivels and escapes.
Optimus Rimes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Waldemir Warzecha.
Warzecha dives in and grabs Rimes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rimes pushes down on Warzecha's head and hops out.

Rimes throws a head kick but Warzecha moves out of range.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Warzecha shoots in but no luck this time.
Rimes tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Warzecha was well out of range. Poor timing from Rimes.
Rimes is looking to wear down Warzecha with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Rimes takes a swing at Warzecha's ribcage but misses.

Warzecha shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rimes as he avoids it easily.
Warzecha tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rimes swivels and escapes.
Warzecha walks into a left hand.
Rimes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rimes lands a leg kick that knocks Warzecha off balance momentarily.
Warzecha gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rimes.

Warzecha shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rimes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Warzecha is looking to work some ground and pound but Rimes has wrist control.
Rimes is pulling down on Warzecha's head. It's preventing any offense from Warzecha, at least for the moment.
Rimes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Warzecha tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Warzecha tries to get to full guard but Rimes has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rimes wants to stand but Warzecha is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Warzecha tries to lock up and control but Rimes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Warzecha is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rimes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rimes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Warzecha pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rimes is keeping the position for now.
Rimes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've been hearing good reports from Rimes's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Warzecha trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Warzecha working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Warzecha wants to control from the top but Rimes keeps moving.
Rimes has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Warzecha has passed into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Optimus Rimes dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rimes takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Rimes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Warzecha can do to turn this around?

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Warzecha is pushing down on Rimes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rimes is fighting to maintain full guard but Warzecha has managed to sneak the leg through.

Warzecha thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rimes's head.

Rimes is not content to let Warzecha control the position.
Rimes manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Warzecha has his foot on Rimes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rimes works his way back into a safe position though.

Rimes wanted to stand there but Warzecha had control of the position.
Waldemir Warzecha has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rimes trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rimes wants to stand but Warzecha is controlling his posture from full guard.

Warzecha isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rimes stacks Warzecha on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rimes!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Optimus Rimes will probably get the nod.

That's time! Rimes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Warzecha will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Waldemir Warzecha is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rimes lunges at Warzecha with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Warzecha's hand.
Rimes connects with a leg kick. Warzecha looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Warzecha shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rimes as he avoids it easily.
Warzecha throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rimes's waist but Rimes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Warzecha off to one side.

Optimus Rimes showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rimes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Optimus Rimes misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
