The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Quan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A jab from Quan does it's job there.

It looks like Valentin Shovkovskyj has been cut.
Shovkovskyj shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Quan pinned against the cage. Quan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Quan lands the left hand.
Quan throws a series of punches but Shovkovskyj avoids them all with ease.
Quan tries to bum rush Shovkovskyj with a series of wild strikes but Shovkovskyj uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Quan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shovkovskyj.
Quan throws a right and a left that Shovkovskyj avoids nicely.
Quan connects with a nice looking jab.
Shovkovskyj throws a solid leg kick but Quan takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Shovkovskyj.
Quan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Quan.

Quan tries to sprawl but Shovkovskyj drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Shovkovskyj stands up and beckons Quan to join him on the feet.
Quan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Shovkovskyj has been working on his balance at Foot Loves, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Quan.
Quan throws a right and a left that Shovkovskyj avoids nicely.
James Quan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sloppy strikes from Quan. Those never looked like landing.
A low kick from Quan is predictable there

and Shovkovskyj counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Shovkovskyj is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Shovkovskyj drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shovkovskyj jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Shovkovskyj works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Shovkovskyj thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Quan's head.
Shovkovskyj thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shovkovskyj is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Shovkovskyj seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Quan is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
