Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maldonado scores with a takedown into Teixeira's guard.
Teixeira trying to control the position.
Maldonado would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Teixeira has his foot on Maldonado's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maldonado works his way back into a safe position though.
Teixeira wants to sweep here but Maldonado controlling him for the moment.
Maldonado stands up over Teixeira, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Maldonado could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Teixeira closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Maldonado's guard.

Teixeira has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Maldonado clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Teixeira tries to get the hooks in deep but Maldonado pushed the leg off.
Maldonado turns into Teixeira and is now in his guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maldonado keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Teixeira's head.
Maldonado postures up in Teixeira's guard and throws a big left but Teixeira blocks it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Teixeira is on top in guard.

Teixeira drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maldonado manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Teixeira has Maldonado in his guard.

Teixeira has momentary wrist control but Maldonado slips an elbow through the middle.
Maldonado connects with a couple of short punches.
Maldonado throws a strike but Teixeira rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Maldonado is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Teixeira has picked Maldonado up - he's going for a ride! Teixeira dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Teixeira must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Maldonado has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Teixeira has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Mohammed Maldonado will probably get the nod.
