Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Edmund Becker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Velasquez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Velasquez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Velasquez won't allow Becker to sweep him here.
Velasquez chips away with some ground and pound.


It looks like Edmund Becker has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Becker throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Becker wants to sweep here but Velasquez controlling him for the moment.

Velasquez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Becker looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Becker looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Becker!

Velasquez tries to bench press Becker off him but Becker keeps the position.

Becker grinds an elbow into Velasquez's temple.
Becker controlling the position from side mount.
Velasquez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Velasquez regains half guard, as Becker was trying to land strikes.
Becker is nestled in close to Velasquez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Becker tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Becker blocks the strikes from Velasquez.
Velasquez wants to get back to full guard.
Becker thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Velasquez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Becker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Velasquez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Becker.

Becker lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Well, if Becker is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Velasquez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Becker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Velasquez lands an elbow.
Becker can't do much from the bottom here.
Becker looking for a sweep but Velasquez has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Becker is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Velasquez raining down shots from the mount!


Edmund Becker's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Velasquez fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Jeez, Edmund Becker's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Edmund Becker's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
