The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marabou feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Phillipss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Phillips defending well as Marabou loads up on a big left hand.
Marabou waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Phillips.
Marabou misses with a wild combination.
Marabou rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Phillips moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Phillips counters with a head kick that drops Marabou to the mat! Marabou scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Marabou throws a series of punches but Phillips avoids them all with ease.
Marabou fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Phillips will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Phillips darts in and clinches Marabou up against the cage.

Phillips escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marabou swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Marabou looks to land a right hand but Phillips moved out of range.
Marabou misses with a straight right.
Marabou throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Marabou feints a jab promting Phillips to slip. Marabou then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Phillips slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Phillips gets a clinch.

Marabou breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A big right from Marabou misses.
Marabou throws a right hand that Phillips ducks under and follows up with a left that Phillips also avoids with ease.
No joy there for Marabou, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A combination from Phillips does no damage.
Marabou misses with an uppercut. Phillips saw that one coming.
Phillips takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Phillips misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Marabou falls off balance throwing a combination
and Phillips counters with a left to the body.
Phillips misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Marabou misses with a wild combination.

and Phillips counters with a one-two to the body.
Marabou looks to land a left hand but Phillips moved out of range nicely.
Phillips gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Phillips tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Marabou is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Phillips buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Phillips!! Phillips is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Marabou throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gary Marabou!
After winning the bout, Gary Marabou thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
