Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Claudio Espinoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caiaphas Caine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Caiaphas Caine enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Claudio Espinoza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Caiaphas Caine!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caine moves in looking to clinch but Espinoza pushes him off.

Caine feints and as Espinoza raises his hands in defense, Caine changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Caine is looking to work some ground and pound but Espinoza has wrist control.
Caine not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Caine wants to control from the top but Espinoza keeps moving.
Caine postures up.
Caine looking to pass the guard.
Caine keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Espinoza's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Espinoza is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Caine in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Claudio Espinoza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Espinoza jabs Caine to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Caine tries a low kick but Espinoza avoids it.
Espinoza is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Espinoza bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Caine throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Caine shoots for a double leg takedown but Espinoza sprawls well. He's pushed Caine's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Espinoza avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Caine has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Caine lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

and Caine counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Espinoza keeping moving, preventing Caine from controlling successfully.
Espinoza looking to hit a scissor sweep but Caine is one step ahead there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Espinoza seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Espinoza takes a swing at Caine's ribcage but misses.
Espinoza avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Caine moves out of range as Espinoza throws a body kick.
Espinoza doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Caine tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Espinoza paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Caine misses the shot to the body.
Caine misses with a body shot.
Espinoza misses with an uppercut. Caine saw that one coming.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Espinoza blocks a jab.
A head kick misses from Caine.

Caine darts in and clinches Espinoza up against the cage.
Caine lands a hook that snaps the head of Espinoza backwards.
Caine misses with a short punch on the inside.
Caine scores with a shoulder strike.
Espinoza stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Espinoza softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Caine misses with a hook to the ribs.
Espinoza working aggressively here.
Espinoza lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Caine backwards.


It looks like Caiaphas Caine has been cut.
Caine misses with a punch on the inside.
Caine misses with the head strike.

Caine swings wildly with an uppercut but Espinoza uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Espinoza gets caught napping as Caine dives in and scores a takedown. Espinoza manages to retain guard.

Caine has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Espinoza wants to sweep here but Caine controlling him for the moment.
Caine postures up in Espinoza's guard and throws a big left but Espinoza blocks it.

Caine seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A looping hook to the body misses from Caine. Espinoza does a little dance to reset his feet.
Caine shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Espinoza but Espinoza pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Caine tries for a takedown but Espinoza sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That has opened up Caiaphas Caine's cut even more.

Espinoza circles away from the clinch attempt.
Both fighters circling a little - Caine finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Espinoza is looking to land body kicks.
Espinoza lands a right hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Espinoza connects with an inside leg kick.
Espinoza shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Espinoza throws a leg kick which misses Caine's front leg but catches the back leg as Caine tries to avoid it.
Caine throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Espinoza stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Caine connects with a body shot that sends Espinoza's belly button to the back.
Caine moves out of range of the body kick.
Espinoza finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Caine throws a body shot but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Claudio Espinoza dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Caiaphas Caine's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Espinoza misses with a hook.
Caine misses with a wild body shot.
Caine throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Espinoza lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Espinoza misses with a jab to the body

and Caine counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Espinoza manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Caine manages to get himself to full guard.

Espinoza is looking to pass into half guard but Caine pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Caine is in guard.

Caine is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Caine stands and throws Espinoza's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Espinoza tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Caine wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes there by Caine.
Espinoza managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Caine.

Caine tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Caine has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Espinoza is not content to let Caine control the position.
Espinoza manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Espinoza has hold of Caine's hands but Caine slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Caine is working for a kimura but Espinoza is defending it quite comfortably.
Espinoza moves into full guard.
Espinoza tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Espinoza looking to control.
Caine slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Caine with the ground and pound but Espinoza regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Caine is trying to control the action in half guard but Espinoza is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Caine is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Espinoza has managed to free his arm - good work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Caine tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Espinoza was well out of range. Poor timing from Caine.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Caine tries to clinch but Espinoza moves out of range.
Espinoza throws a body kick that misses.
Espinoza throws a low kick but Caine avoids it.
Espinoza scores with a kick to the body.
Caine cracks the inside of Espinoza's front leg.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Caine.
Espinoza keeps Caine at a distance using the push kick.
Caine tries to close the distance and clinch but Espinoza swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Caine just misses with a punch to the body.
Espinoza tries to land a front kick but Caine steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Espinoza wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Caiaphas Caine.
I think Caine has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
