Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Gracie !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Canela Elbow!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie walks forward, straight into a front kick from Elbow.
Elbow misses with a leg kick.
A head kick by Gracie misses
and Elbow finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Elbow misses with a low kick as Gracie jumps back.
Elbow thumps Gracie with a low kick.
Gracie is looking to clinch but Elbow is avoiding it.
Rodrigo Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Elbow feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gracie 's calf.

Gracie tries to pull guard but Elbow holds him up against the cage and eventually Gracie drops back down to his feet.

Elbow tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gracie avoids it.

Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Elbow walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Elbow circles away.
Elbow motions for Gracie to come forward. Elbow throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Elbow tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Elbow throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Elbow throws the kick towards the body but Gracie avoids it.
Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Elbow counters with a nice low kick that buckles Gracie 's knee momentarily.

Gracie gets to his feet. Elbow looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Elbow, right into the meat.
Gracie avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Canela Elbow is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Elbow stuffs the takedown attempt from Gracie . Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.
Gracie checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Elbow lands with a thumping leg kick.
Gracie is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Gracie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Elbow tries to avoid it but Gracie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Elbow to the ground. Elbow escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A low kick from Gracie misses
and Elbow counters with a solid body kick.
Gracie wants to clinch.
Elbow does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Elbow pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Elbow throws a low kick but Gracie avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Elbow manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Elbow tries to land a front kick but Gracie steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Gracie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Elbow manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Elbow dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gracie . That did some damage!

The fight stays on the outside here - Gracie looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gracie will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Canela Elbow is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Elbow feints and then cracks Gracie 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gracie down.

Good leg kick by Elbow there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
