PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ville Akerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antti Makivalkkila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Ville Akerman has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ville Akerman seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antti Makivalkkila!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makivalkkila shoots in for a double leg but Akerman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Akerman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Akerman shoots for a double leg takedown but Makivalkkila sprawls well. He's pushed Akerman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ville Akerman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Akerman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Makivalkkila throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Akerman's waist but Akerman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Makivalkkila off to one side.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Akerman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Akerman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Akerman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Makivalkkila for as long as he can get away with.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ville Akerman will probably get the nod.

Akerman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Makivalkkila changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Akerman tries to avoid it but Makivalkkila manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Akerman to the ground. Akerman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

I would just about give that final round to Antti Makivalkkila.
