Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Life Goes On. Birmiski has chosen I'm Back - T.I as his entrance music. Ari Birmiski has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

25 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ari Birmiski!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Birmiski closes the distance but Jones moves to the side
so Jones counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Birmiski is keeping the position.
Birmiski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Birmiski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jones's coaches at Palazzo Paisano have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Birmiski winds up and cracks Jones with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Birmiski lands a nice short elbow.

Birmiski lands a heavy elbow.

Birmiski is pressing down on Jones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jones is holding on for now.
Birmiski looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jones is trying to get back to full guard.

Birmiski throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
