The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smas darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mccormick slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Mccormick lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Smas looking for a sweep. Not yet Smas, not yet.
Mccormick decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smas, up you get!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Smas.
Mccormick throws Smas to one side and escapes!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smas tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mccormick counters by moving into the clinch.
Mccormick has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smas uses from the top position.
Mccormick lands an upkick as Smas stands over him.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mccormick working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Mccormick is tightening it up a little... Smas has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Smas reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Smas taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mccormick!
