Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rey Johnston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan De La Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnston misses with the combination.
De La Cruz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Johnston tries to score a power double leg takedown but De La Cruz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnston somewhat.

Johnston throws a right and a left that De La Cruz avoids nicely.

De La Cruz parries the strikes from Johnston easily there. Johnston is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable De La Cruz to escape.
Johnston could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Johnston feints and as De La Cruz raises his hands in defense, Johnston changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Johnston closes the distance and clinches up with De La Cruz, looking for a takedown. Johnston pushes De La Cruz against the cage but De La Cruz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Johnston goes for a double leg but De La Cruz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as De La Cruz continues to drive forward.
