PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Troy Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marek Grechucki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warner is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Troy Warner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Marek Grechucki!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warner takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Warner is breathing heavily.

Grechucki closes the distance and clinches.
Grechucki content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Warner really is a fat lump.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Grechucki obliges.
Grechucki with a knee to the head.

Grechucki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Grechucki explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Grechucki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Grechucki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Grechucki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Grechucki moves into the clinch successfully.
Grechucki is trying to force a seperation but Warner has the dominant position.
Grechucki tries to break the clinch but Warner is controlling the position.

Warner is fighting off a takedown attempt but Grechucki is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Warner to the mat. Warner regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Grechucki forces his way into half guard.

Grechucki is controlling the pace.
Warner avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Grechucki.
Warner on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Grechucki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Warner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Grechucki might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Warner haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grechucki works his way into side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Grechucki tries to stand but Warner is controlling his head.
Warner parries the strikes from Grechucki easily there. Grechucki is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Warner to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Warner takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Grechucki is looking to take a break and control but Warner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marek Grechucki dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Grechucki looking to score a takedown here. Warner is defending well but Grechucki drives through and ends up in Warner's guard.
Marek Grechucki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Grechucki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Warner swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Grechucki pushes down on Warner's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Grechucki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Warner sees it coming and defends easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grechucki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warner keeps working.

Grechucki is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Grechucki works his way into full mount!

Grechucki with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Warner is squirming around, avoiding Grechucki's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Grechucki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Warner is looking to escape.
Grechucki scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Grechucki trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Grechucki has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Warner is rocked!
Grechucki lands a big elbow - Warner is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Warner is forced to tap out!
