PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Viavao Kaho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igam Rustimov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaho comes into the arena with Joey B - Tonga (Feat. Sarkodie) blaring out of the sound system. Igam Rustimov struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Viavao Kaho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Igam Rustimov!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaho on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Rustimov tries for a takedown but Kaho sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rustimov dives in for a single leg takedown but Kaho sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kaho gets underhooks to prevent Rustimov's takedown attempt.
Viavao Kaho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igam Rustimov.
Rustimov is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rustimov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Kaho has Rustimov pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kaho pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rustimov tumbling to the mat - Kaho dives into Rustimov's guard.
Kaho tries to free his leg and advance position but Rustimov is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kaho works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Kaho looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kaho is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rustimov has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kaho is thwarting Rustimov's attempts to control the position.

Kaho is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rustimov won't allow Kaho to pass to mount.

Kaho seems to be working for a kimura but Rustimov defends the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kaho wants to pass to mount but Rustimov is defending the position.

Kaho is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rustimov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kaho.
Kaho works his way into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rustimov is trying to buck Kaho off.

Kaho tries for a kimura but Rustimov is defending well.

Kaho swings around for an armbar but Rustimov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kaho's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rustimov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kaho swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kaho is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rustimov is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viavao Kaho dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Kaho closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Viavao Kaho overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kaho tries for a kimura but Rustimov is defending well.
Kaho has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Kaho is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rustimov has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rustimov!

Kaho is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rustimov pulls his head out easily.

Kaho is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rustimov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rustimov's back!

Rustimov is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kaho's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Kaho is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rustimov can do to turn this around?

Kaho has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Rustimov is defending well but eventually Kaho manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Rustimov has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
