PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lee Jun Fan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrion Lannister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tired and clearly flustered, he entered the arena late and after a little discussion it was decided that the bout should take place.
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lee Jun Fan and Tyrion Lannister. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jun Fan scores with a shot to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Lannister has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jun Fan goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Jun Fan misses with a leg kick.
Jun Fan jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Lannister drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Lannister sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jun Fan's guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jun Fan tries to get to full guard but Lannister has control of the leg.
Lannister is pressing down on Jun Fan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jun Fan is holding on for now.

Lannister seems to be looking for submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lannister postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lannister is working Jun Fan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jun Fan wants to sweep here but Lannister controlling him for the moment.

Lannister thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lannister is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lannister is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jun Fan is just riding it out for now. Lannister eventually gives up the hold.

Lannister changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jun Fan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Lannister throws a hook to the side of Jun Fan's head but Jun Fan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lannister goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jun Fan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lannister but great work by Jun Fan.

Lannister's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lannister has control of Jun Fan's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jun Fan regains control of the situation pretty easily.

BOOM! Lannister connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Lannister tries to control but Jun Fan wriggling away.
Tyrion Lannister is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jun Fan is trying to reverse the position but instead Lannister has taken his back - oops!
