PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Milford Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Milford Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Patterson !
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hunter misses with a combination

and Patterson counters with a takedown into side control.

Patterson decides to stand back up.

Patterson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hunter to the mat! Hunter manages to get full guard.

Patterson gets to his feet - Hunter follows without any prompting.
Patterson checks a leg kick nicely.
A punch lands to the side of Hunter 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Patterson swats away the attempt to clinch by Hunter.

Patterson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Patterson lands in his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Patterson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Patterson 's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Patterson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Patterson trying to control but Hunter is working from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Patterson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Patterson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hunter was covering up waiting for the punch and Patterson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Patterson 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Hunter wants to stand and escape but Patterson is having none of it.
Hunter is pulling down on Patterson 's head. It's preventing any offense from Patterson , at least for the moment.
Patterson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Patterson dives in and scores a takedown into Hunter's guard.
Hunter keeping moving, preventing Patterson from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Patterson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hunter is trying to control the position but Patterson postures up.
Patterson stays in close to Hunter's body and controls the position.
Patterson wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Patterson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Patterson dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Hunter tries to clinch but Patterson moves away
and Hunter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hunter closes the distance looking to clinch

and Patterson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hunter won't be happy with that.

Patterson decides to stand back up. Patterson steps back and let's Hunter get back to his feet.
Patterson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Hunter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Patterson , pushing him back against the cage.

Patterson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Patterson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Patterson lands a couple of elbows.
Hunter keeping moving, preventing Patterson from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patterson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hunter working a defensive guard here.
Patterson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Patterson advances to half guard.
Hunter keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Patterson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Patterson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hunter trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patterson landing strikes from the mount.
Patterson blocks Hunter's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Hunter takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Hunter is rocked!


It looks like Milford Hunter has been cut.
Hunter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Patterson on the ground.
Patterson loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Hunter scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Patterson land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Patterson stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dan Patterson !
