Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jason Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saki Mapu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mapu jabs Smith right on the nose. Smith blinks but takes it well.
Smith misses with a two punch combination.
Mapu wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Mapu.
Smith throws a low kick but Mapu avoids it.

Mapu moves into the clinch.
Smith tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Smith changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mapu has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.

Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mapu.
Mapu fails with an attempt to clinch.

Smith clinches up with Mapu and pushes him back against the cage.

Mapu manages to pull guard.

Smith is fighting to break Mapu's control of his arms but Mapu is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Smith controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mapu wants to sweep but no luck.
Mapu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mapu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Smith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mapu defends well and Smith ends up having to push Mapu into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mapu momentarily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Mapu is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Smith tries to control Mapu's body but Mapu pushes him off. Smith squirms to his side and now Mapu has his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
