Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bradley Cardenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Del Rio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Del Rio has chosen Radioactive Remix as his entrance music. The key to victory for Bradley Cardenas has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bradley Cardenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Del Rio!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardenas throws a right and a left that both miss.

Cardenas gets tackled into the cage by Del Rio. Del Rio maintains the clinch.
Cardenas pressing his opponent against the cage.
Cardenas is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Stalling in the clinch from Cardenas.

Cardenas jumps into guard, dragging Del Rio to the mat.
Del Rio looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Del Rio avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cardenas working for submissions but it's allowed Del Rio to get to half guard.

Del Rio perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Del Rio seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Del Rio is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cardenas sees it coming and defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cardenas wants to control but Del Rio is keeping busy.
Cardenas won't allow Del Rio to pass to mount.
Well, if Del Rio is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Del Rio throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Del Rio tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cardenas.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Cardenas is controlling Del Rio's trapped leg to prevent Del Rio from advancing to side control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Del Rio clinches up with Cardenas and pushes him back against the cage.

Cardenas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Del Rio is keeping busy.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Cardenas wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Cardenas jumps into guard, dragging Del Rio to the mat.
Cardenas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Del Rio is looking to stand up but Cardenas won't let him.

Del Rio takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julio Del Rio dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Cardenas closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Del Rio's coach down at Rio Top Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Del Rio's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Del Rio ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Del Rio no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Del Rio has a closed guard, preventing Cardenas from standing up.

Cardenas decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Del Rio takes the fight into the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Cardenas jumps guard and drags Del Rio to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Del Rio gets to his feet - Cardenas follows without any prompting.

Del Rio fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cardenas to the ground. Del Rio is now in Cardenas's guard.

Cardenas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Del Rio doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Del Rio manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Del Rio is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Del Rio looking to sit in guard and control but Cardenas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Cardenas drops back looking for a leg! Del Rio is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Del Rio manages to kick Cardenas off! Cardenas jumps back into Del Rio's guard.

Del Rio is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cardenas wants to control from the top but Del Rio keeps moving.
Del Rio trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Cardenas has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cardenas not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Del Rio has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Cardenas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Del Rio on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Del Rio throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Cardenas counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Del Rio is refusing to be controlled, as Cardenas sits in half guard.
Del Rio tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Cardenas wants to stand up but Del Rio is controlling the position.

Cardenas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Del Rio does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Del Rio pushes Cardenas off looking to stand but Cardenas dives back in and keeps control.

Cardenas postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Del Rio to stand up.
Del Rio misses with the body kick
and Cardenas counters with a three punch combo that has Del Rio backing up. Del Rio nods at Cardenas to acknowledge the strikes.

Cardenas manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Del Rio on his heels. He'll look to pass Del Rio's guard now, I'm sure.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cardenas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Del Rio keeping moving, preventing Cardenas from controlling successfully.
Cardenas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Del Rio wants to stand up but Cardenas is controlling him.

Del Rio escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cardenas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Cardenas wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Del Rio has him pressed against the cage.
Cardenas tries to stall but Del Rio uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Cardenas gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Del Rio has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cardenas is working away from the top position though.
Cardenas slows the pace down in half guard.
Del Rio is doing well to control the position and prevent Cardenas from advancing to side control.
Cardenas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Del Rio can do to turn this around?

Del Rio will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Cardenas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Del Rio has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cardenas has managed to get both his arms back between Del Rio's legs - danger averted.
Del Rio wants to stand up but Cardenas is controlling him.
Cardenas wants to control from the top but Del Rio keeps moving.

Del Rio doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Del Rio is trying to control Cardenas's posture but Cardenas avoids it.
