PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Vip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lassi Lambada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lassi Lambada was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Vip!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lassi Lambada!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lambada closes the distance and clinches.
Lambada pushes Vip back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Lambada creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Vip is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Lambada successfully pulls guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lambada is on top in guard.

Lambada tries to free his leg and advance position but Vip is retaining full guard.
Vip looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lambada is one step ahead there.
Lambada not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vip definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Lambada postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Vip tries to lock up and control but Lambada gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lambada cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Vip on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vip tries to get out of the position.

Lambada scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Lambada fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lambada tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vip is in a horrible position here. Lambada smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Vip tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Lambada connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Vip goes for a double leg but Lambada avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lambada continues to drive forward.

Lambada turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Lambada remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

My spies in The Warehouse inform me that Lambada has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Vip takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Lambada is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Vip's shoulder. That is not cool.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Vip takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Lambada has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
A lull in the action here as Lambada stalls from top position.
Lambada looks up at the clock and then as Vip takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Lambada smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lambada lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Vip takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Lassi Lambada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lambada connects with a right hand. Vip shakes it off.
Oh Vip is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lambada lands a right hand that snaps the head of Vip backwards.
Lambada lands with a short shot to the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lambada tightens his grip and picks Vip up, before dumping him to the ground. Vip manages to land in guard.

Lambada stands and steps away. Vip gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Vip seems to have got his legs back now.
A body shot lands from Lambada.
Vip jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lambada walks away with a smile on his face. Vip gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Vip shoots in for a takedown but Lambada shows good takedown defense.

Lambada has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Vip's face.

Well Lambada has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
