PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Newton Barlow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bijiku Daliar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Newton Barlow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bijiku Daliar!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daliar tries to land a body kick
and Barlow counters with a nice body kick.
Nice body kick there by Daliar.
Barlow dodges the punch combination from Daliar.
Daliar looks to land a combination but Barlow avoids it well.
Barlow has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Barlow blocks a head kick by Daliar.

Daliar looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Barlow!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barlow gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Barlow is positioning himself well to prevent Daliar advancing to mount.
Barlow is looking to control Daliar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Barlow avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Daliar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Barlow trying to control but Daliar postures up.
Daliar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Barlow does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Daliar tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daliar stops Barlow from getting back to his feet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Daliar is trying to control. Barlow wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Daliar won't allow Barlow to get back to his feet.
Daliar tries to stand but Barlow is controlling from the bottom.
Barlow is trying to keep Daliar in close.
Barlow has Daliar pulled in close to control his posture.
Daliar wants to control from the top but Barlow keeps moving.
Daliar is pushing down on Barlow's leg trying to pass to half guard. Barlow is fighting to maintain full guard but Daliar has managed to sneak the leg through.

Barlow is trying to stand.
Daliar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Daliar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Daliar lands a nice looking body kick.
Bijiku Daliar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barlow shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Daliar is trying to defend but Barlow finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Daliar wants to control but Barlow passes into side.

Barlow avoids the attempt from Daliar to control.

Barlow with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Daliar tries to lock up and control but Barlow gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bijiku Daliar dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Daliar lands a jab to the nose.
Daliar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A left and a right from Daliar both land. Nice combination.
Daliar lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Daliar scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Daliar pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Barlow back to the cage. Daliar follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Daliar throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Daliar shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Daliar gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Barlow counters by clinching up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Barlow looking to slow down the pace here.

Daliar gets control of Barlow's arms and successfully pulls guard. Daliar will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Daliar is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Daliar keeping moving, preventing Barlow from controlling successfully.
Barlow connects with a couple of short punches.
Barlow postures up and lands a big shot to Daliar's brow.

Daliar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barlow defends it easily.

Daliar looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Barlow passes into half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Barlow is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Daliar tries to get to full guard but Barlow has control of the leg.

Barlow looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Daliar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Daliar tries to kick Barlow off but Barlow keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Daliar manages to get to full guard.
Daliar is breathing heavily.

Daliar is looking for a triangle here but Barlow uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Barlow fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Barlow is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Daliar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Barlow lands a few punches from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bijiku Daliar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Daliar lands a head kick. Barlow smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Daliar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Daliar throws the kick towards the body but Barlow avoids it.

Daliar clinches.

Barlow's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Daliar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Daliar moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Daliar throws a sloppy head kick and Barlow moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Daliar shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Barlow manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Barlow is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Barlow has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Daliar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Barlow could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Daliar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Daliar has gone for a leg lock! Barlow slips out almost immediately though and dives into Daliar's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Barlow is looking to work some ground and pound but Daliar has wrist control.
Daliar wants to control but Barlow passes easily into half guard.
Daliar wants to sweep but Barlow has passed to side control!

Barlow is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Daliar has escaped the position, nice work there.

Daliar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barlow wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Barlow is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Daliar knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Barlow seems to be working for a kimura but Daliar defends the submission attempt.

Daliar is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Barlow's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Barlow's back!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Daliar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Daliar has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Newton Barlow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bijiku Daliar is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Barlow looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Bijiku Daliar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Daliar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
