The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McGill checks the leg kick nicely there.
Woods misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Woods decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Woods trying to pass the guard but McGill defending well.
Woods seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Woods is looking to take a break and control but McGill is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Woods crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from McGill - the referee stops the clock and Woods gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says McGill. Woods manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

McGill tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Woods was well out of range. Poor timing from McGill.

Bogie McGill is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

McGill moves out of range as Woods throws a body kick.
McGill throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Woods takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

McGill felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Woods passes to side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McGill is trying to improve his position.
McGill is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Woods has just dragged him back down to the mat.

and McGill counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Some bone on bone action there as McGill checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Woods shoots in looking for a takedown but McGill manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Woods's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

McGill has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Woods shoots in looking for a takedown. McGill tries to sprawl out of it but Woods keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGill manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
