Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jan Eckstroem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Captain Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jan Eckstroem had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jack instigates a clinch.
Eckstroem definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Jack lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Eckstroem gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Jack is trying to stand up here but Eckstroem is controlling him well.

Eckstroem is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jack is just riding it out for now. Eckstroem eventually gives up the hold.
Jack is staying active underneath Eckstroem, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jack is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eckstroem wants to pass the guard but Jack is defending well.

Jack throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Eckstroem tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jack is in Eckstroem's guard.

Jack is trying to control the action in half guard but Eckstroem is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jack lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Eckstroem is not content to let Jack control the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jack seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Eckstroem does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jack really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eckstroem. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Eckstroem avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jack thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jack shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Eckstroem manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Jack lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Eckstroem is squirming around, avoiding Jack's attempts to control the action.

Eckstroem is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Eckstroem is looking to improve his position but Jack isn't that keen on the idea.
Jack postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Eckstroem in real trouble here! The ref calls for Eckstroem to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
