PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Myron Klewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reuven Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Klewis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Black. The crowd seem to be enjoying Johnson's choice of entrance music: welcome to the jungle. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Myron Klewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Reuven Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries to clinch up but Klewis circles away and keeps his distance.
Klewis keeps the fight on the outside.
Johnson tries to clinch there but Klewis circles away.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Klewis feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Klewis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Klewis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Klewis, into his guard.

Klewis keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Klewis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Klewis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Klewis looking for a guillotine here but Johnson defends easily.

Klewis is looking for a triangle but Johnson pushes his legs off easily.

Klewis is looking for a triangle here but Johnson uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Klewis manages to get back to half guard.
Johnson with the ground and pound but Klewis uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but instead Klewis has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Klewis works over Johnson with some ground and pound from guard.

Klewis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Johnson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Klewis postures up and lands a big shot to Johnson's brow.
Johnson has his hands on Klewis's head, controlling the position.
Klewis pushing down on Johnson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Klewis seems to be working for a kimura but Johnson defends the submission attempt.
Johnson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Klewis decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Klewis avoids the head kick by Johnson.

Klewis shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We've been hearing that Klewis has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Klewis stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Johnson gets tackled into the cage by Klewis. Klewis maintains the clinch.
Klewis is trying to drag Johnson to the mat but Johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Klewis works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Klewis throwing strikes from guard but Johnson blocks nicely.
Klewis distracts Johnson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Myron Klewis dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Klewis darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Klewis is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Johnson sees it coming and defends easily.

Klewis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Klewis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Klewis is working for a kimura but Johnson is defending it quite comfortably.

Johnson is trying to control but Klewis manages to pass to mount!

Klewis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Johnson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Johnson is rocked!

Klewis is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Johnson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Johnson is still in real trouble! Can Klewis finish him?
Johnson tries to hold on but Klewis pushes him away.
Johnson seems to have recovered his senses.
Johnson is trying desperately to improve position.
Klewis is landing with some decent strikes but Johnson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Klewis is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Johnson goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Klewis!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Myron Klewis!
After the fight, Myron Klewis was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
